We’re looking for a Senior Manager – Software Engineer to join the Machine Learning Experience (MLX) team!
The MLX team is at the forefront of how Capital One builds and deploys responsible ML models and features; we onboard and educate associates on the ML platforms and products that the whole company uses; we drive new innovation and research; and we’re working to seamlessly infuse ML into the fabric of the company. The full ML experience we’re creating will enable our lines of business to focus their time and resources on advancing their specific machine learning objectives — all while continuing to deliver next-generation machine learning-driven products and services for our customers.
Responsibilities:
Work to build better introspection into every action taken within our Enterprise Model Platform offering. Help to build back-end systems to collect metrics and leverage existing enterprise tools, as well as build our own, to enable us to know what each user and machine learning model in every stage across our entire ecosystem is doing at all times.
Collaborate as part of a cross-functional Agile team to come up with architectures and then implement them with multiple teams in the system and platform tracing space.
Leverage cloud-based architectures, best practices, and technologies to deliver systems that will enable deep introspection into our platforms.
Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and from time to time, be asked to code or evaluate code
Collaborate with digital product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of customers achieve their financial goals.
Utilize programming languages like Go and Python, as well as AWS services such as EKS, the various EC2 and networking based services, RDS, DynamoDB, EFS and S3, plus various data platforms
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
At least 10 years of experience designing and building data intensive solutions using distributed computing.
At least 4 years of experience programming with Python or Go.
At least 3 years of experience building, scaling, and optimizing large scale distributed systems.
At least 2 years of experience leading technical intent for engineering teams.
At least 1 year of experience working with containerization technologies
At least 1 year of experience working with distributed tracing technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree
At least 5 years of experience developing performant, resilient, and maintainable code.
Authored/co-authored a paper on a ML technique, model, or proof of concept.
3+ years experience working with open source tracing frameworks
3+ years of experience with Kubernetes
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to a variety of audiences.
Contributed to open source software.
2+ years of experience with OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, Zipkin, or other industry standard distributed tracing tools.
Experience implementing platform wide distributed tracing at multiple layers of a platform stack
