Global Treasury Strategy, Execution & Controls (SE&C) is a function within Global Treasury (GT), and is responsible for a significant book of work in the Treasury & Market Treasury function including strategic planning and delivery, effective governance, IT and innovations strategy, management of front to back and associated functions as well as conduct and control standards across our teams. The function plays a key foundation role in managing GT existing operations and in the success of the implementing the new GT2025 target operating model. The Risk Governance and Control Office (R,G&C) Team sits within the Global Treasury SE&C. The RG&C team helps govern and manage risks in the business (financial and non-financial risks).
The Opportunity:
A particular focus for S,E&C is the newly established Treasury Task Force book of work, which has commenced a detailed book of work to review Issues and Actions (I&A) records in order to build confidence in the overall status of I&As and drive remediation and risk reduction across Treasury. The Treasury Task Force will focus on (i) Remediation of I&A records; and (ii) Strategic enhancements for the creation of new ‘I&A’ records.
The role’s primary focus is supporting the Treasury Task Force to achieve the overall objectives of the book of work, initially with a focus on HBEU Solo but with an expectation of expansion across EMEA, supporting the Regional Treasurer, Regional SE&C Lead and Treasury CFO.
What you’ll do:
Reporting and functionally accountable to the Regional S,E&C team, the role holder will be responsible for driving forward the deliverables set out under the Treasury Task Force, as well as any tasks associated, initially focused on HBEU entity but with an expectation to expand across EMEA. The role holder will play a key role in helping support the enhancement/improvement of controls and best practice driven out of the Treasury Task Force.
Report Functionally to the to the EMEA Head of Strategy, Execution & Control
Support the Risk Governance and Control team in the completion of regional required tasks, including those under the Treasury Task Force book of work and read across exercises. Drive forward GT strategic elements within Treasury Task Force
Contribute towards and consolidate inputs relevant to the Treasury Task Force book of work into EMEA-wide key governance forums on behalf of Treasury and/or other relevant governance forums identified as part of any read across exercises
Work with the Regional GT Treasurer, COOs, CCOs, Finance Control Office and MSS/Markets Treasury Non-Financial Risk office to ensure effective implementation of control standards, governance, procedures and controls relevant to Treasury Task Force book of work
Work closely and share collective responsibility with the SE&C global teams for the achievement of all objectives including Transformation, Digital and Innovation, Risk Governance and Controls, Costs and Investments Management for Treasury
Working in partnership with the Regional Treasury Leadership Team in ensuring the business continues to operate to the highest levels of operational, governance and accountability standards via well-scoped and managed Risk Management framework.
Assist the EMEA Regional Treasurer in delivering effective management of Non Financial Risk and Financial Risk issue and action remediation.
Support the EMEA Treasurer and Regional SE&C Leads on all workforce planning, position management and cost forecasting requirements
Perform Deep Dive Reviews to support and promote the execution of control reviews, thematic reviews and other remediation or assurance work, as required
Support the maintenance of tracking and resolution of issues, including any uploads to relevant systems (eg. Helios)
Support the implementation of policies, procedures, processes to mitigate risks driven out of the Treasury Task Force Book of Work
Requirements
What you will need to succeed in the role:
Minimum 5+years business management, non-financial risk/control roles within financial services industry
Basic understanding of Global Treasury businesses and products, specifically knowledge of Treasury activities including Finance and Markets
Knowledge of internal controls and risk management
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and project management skills to enhance standards, policies and controls
Well-developed leadership and people management skills, able to drive change and provide positive influence to achieve organisation goals
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to negotiate and work effectively with senior business leaders across business lines and geographies
Strong problem solving and prioritization skills and be able to perform multitask under pressure with a keen eye for detail
Excellent team player with a proactive and self-motivated attitude and ability to think and act independently
Demonstrates compliance with HSBC Bank plc Group standards, manuals and policies and adheres to the defined work practices, internal controls and risk management standards associated with the role.
Familiarity with assessment of risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructuring and the impact of new technology.
Project management (especially dealing with global stakeholders) experience
