Job Requirements
- Actively and proactively provide technical and engineering support for Apache Spark.
- Provide technical oversight, review, and approval of cluster operations.
- Conduct technical operations including migrations, upgrades and any other changes.
- Triage and diagnose performance and/or system issues related to Apache Spark and recommend remediation steps to improve and/or resolve.
- Perform code review and pull requests on projects that require Technical Operations expertise on the internal software tooling.
- Benchmark on critical technical tasks including but not limited to backup and restore functionality of Apache Spark clusters.
- Participate as part of a response team in major customer impacting production incidents, identifying remediation plans, contributing to root cause analysis, post incident reviews, identifying bugs in Spark and clearly articulating the outcomes in the Issue tracking system (e.g. JIRA).
- Actively participate in and contribute to new software product development initiatives. Maintain expert-level knowledge of Apache Spark, AWS, Kubernetes, and Spot Ocean,
- Participate in a Level 2 on-call rotation.
- Provide technical training on Apache Spark, Kubernetes, and Spot Ocean with operational procedures and concepts, and ensure these processes are adhered to.
- Identify and implement opportunities to continuously improve business activities through the design of new, or enhancement of existing, software tools and processes. Undertake and lead cluster reviews.
Specific Skills: Experience must include:
- Apache Spark (3 – 5 years of current experience required)
- Kubernetes (3 – 5 years of current experience required)
- AWS (3 – 5 years of current experience required)
- Spot Ocean (experience preferred)
- Grafana / Cloudwatch
- Python;
- Azure, GCP
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, Typically requires minimum of 5 years of related experience.
