The Opportunity:
The position involves the daily operation, administration and management of OpenText’ LAN, WLAN and WAN infrastructure. The role will involve working on change initiatives, business-as-usual tasks and managing partners in their delivery of IT services to OpenText. This role will report to the IT Operations shift Manager. The engineer will provide systems support, respond to incidents, deploy technologies, and participate in the governance of out-sourcing partners. The role requires the ability to coordinate activities with a globally distributed team, to manage partner activities and to apply hands-on technical abilities. The engineer holding this position must have good understanding of networking communication standards and technologies and current networking security practices.
The candidate must be able and willing to work closely with team members globally with partner service providers and with other company personnel to provide a stable communications network infrastructure and to ensure effective escalation or resolution of incidents. The candidate must be willing and able to be flexible in their work schedule and hours as to accommodate for meetings and coordination with associates in other times zones, globally.

As a member of our IT organization, the engineer will be expected to:
Effectively manage an enterprise data network, regularly monitoring its performance, functionality and capacity and making recommendations to constantly improve and align the environment to current requirements.
Govern the delivery of IT services provided by the Ops Team related to network escalations.
Support other IT personnel in designing, testing and assisting in the deployment of new technologies within the IT environment.
Create appropriate documentation to ensure smooth transition of new technologies into production and the effective operational support of such technologies.
Provide escalated support as needed for other IT operations teams.
Effectively troubleshoot and analyze the LAN, WLAN and WAN components, systems and environment.
Develop and/or maintain design documentation that effectively represents the current state of the enterprise communication network and services.
Participate on and contribute to project teams in the design and implementation of IT systems and services.
What it takes
Experience working in a multi-national company.
Willing and able to accommodate a work schedule that varies from normal working business hours
5+ years of network engineering experience.
Experience with managing and configuring HPE, Cisco and Juniper routers, Palo Alto and FortiGate firewalls, and LAN switches from HPE/Aruba and Brocade.
Experience with Aruba WLAN infrastructure.
Experience with WAN management and protocols helpful.
Proven experience with advanced troubleshooting techniques in a complex, heterogeneous network.
Possess a firm knowledge of 802.1q, 802.11 wireless standards and layer 2 switching standards and protocols (LACP, LLDP, VLAN, etc)
Possess an understanding of redundancy and high availability design techniques and principles
Experience working effectively under tight deadlines and high pressure environment required.
Must be willing and able to participate in an on-call rotation.
